SURFING
The surfing season got off to a good start with us winning back the “Bombing Range Cup” from Mullaloo last Sunday up at the Bombing Range. A great result considering we won by a mere 7 points. It’s so nice to stick it up the Mullalooloo’s and they suggested Cottesloe wear the pink rashies – I don’t think so! Good to see some new members getting into the surfing spirit and competing. It also goes to show that you don’t have to be one of the best surfers in the club to compete as just getting out and having a go can result in you enjoying the spoils of victory. See a full report and photos under “News”.
This Saturday we have a few members competing in the Long Grom at Lencelin and we wish them luck. The following day we were to have the CLBC social surf at the Bombing Range. Due to the sizeable swell and the SSE winds being predicted, which are conditions more favorable to Perth, we have moved it to Iso’s where most of the crew will be anyway. So this weekend take the opportunity to clean out the cob-webs and hone your skills for the first club round. That’s on April 5th. Be sure to get there early as we’re hoping for good conditions. Remember that points from all club rounds go towards the total at the end of the season so don’t miss out. This year the club rounds will incorporate the “Old Mal” so bring your log along for the day and you’ll get to surf a few extra minutes without the crowd factor.
SOCIAL
Friday 27th March we’ll be having a social at the Cottesloe Surf Club from 6pm onwards. As we have use of the barbecues, either bring along your barbecue food and salads or simply order fish and chips from across the road. Due to Filippo having to duck back to Italy for personal reasons we had to postpone the club dinner/film night but he’s got all the gear on standby and is eager for it to happen shortly after his return. Keep your eye on the social page “News” for an update.
If anyone has a suggestion on a social event please feel free to contact one of the committee members.
T-SHIRTS & KEY RINGS
Our membership rep tells me that he hopes to have the “new look” shirts ready for the first club round. It’s been a while since we had a group photo of the majority of club members so this could well be the day!
GENERAL
Georgia Young has been flying the flag for CLBC both down south and over east. Her proud dad, Richard has kindly sent in a few words to keep us up to date. See “News”
As most would know by now, Peter (Dunny) Dunn was honored with becoming the first “Life Member” of the club at our wind up last year. Jon Dadd has so eloquently given us the reasons behind this, which you will find under “News”. Congratulations Dunny!
