Roque Santa Cruz Reveals He Has A Minimum Fee Release Clause

Blackburn Rovers' want-away forward Roque Santa Cruz seems to be almost certain that he will leave Ewood Park this summer after revealing his current contract has a minimum fee release clause.

Apparently, should a fee of £20 million be offered to Rovers, the Paraguayan international will be free to talk to other clubs.

The news is likely to alert Manchester City manager Mark Hughes who tried to sign the 27-year-old in the January transfer window.

Indeed, it is thought that the Citizens actually met the £20m valuation the Lancashire club have placed on the former Bayern Munich star, but Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce did not want him to leave without securing a replacement.

"There is a clause in my contract which specifies that if there is an offer of £20m or more the club will have to accept the offer from the start of June," Santa Cruz told Teledeportes de Paraguay.

"The last offer [from City] was £20m, but the club didn’t have time to find another striker who could replace me."
