Chest Bibs
Chest Bibs are in 4 colours. Each colour relates to the start time and group which you have been allocated.
Please ensure that on race day you line up in the group that corresponds to your colour chest bib.
Please attach your chest bib firmly to your clothing using safety pins.
Red bibs (1-8,000): Are The Sun-Herald 1 (SH1) Start entrants. This start consists of three groups. Those with their name on their bib are seeded runners (white with red names). Bib number 101- 600 are preferred runners (white with red numbers) and bib number 601 – 8,000 (red with white numbers). This group is restricted to those runner’s that finished the 2007 or 2008 Sun-Herald City2Surf in sub 75 minutes. The starting location for SH1 is at the intersection of Park and College streets (see Map 2).
Green bibs (8,001-19,000): Are The Sun-Herald 2 (SH2) Start entrants and is restricted to those who finished the 2007 or 2008 Sun-Herald City2Surf between 75.01 and 100 minutes. The starting location for SH2 is at the intersection of Park and College streets behind SH1 Start entrants (see Map 2).

Yellow bibs (45,001 onwards): Are the back-of-the-pack entrants. The start for this group is located in College Street north, adjacent to Cook & Philip Park (see Map 2).
Timing Tags
Timing Tags were introduced in 2008 for The Sun-Herald City2Surf. The timing tag needs to be affixed to your shoelace. See below for step-by-step instructions.
When you cross over the mat at the starting line, the timer will be activated. The timer will remain active for the entire race. Once crossing the finish line, your timer will stop recording. These timing tags are a very accurate time of your race.
Don’t worry if you are starting at the back-of-the-pack. The timer only commences once you cross the mat at the starting line.
*Please note if you start ahead of your allocated start category then your timing tag will not be activated and you will receive an automatic disqualification from the race.
*Also to note that the timing tags DO NOT need to be returned this year.
Step-by-step instructions for fixing your timing tag
Please follow these step-by-step instructions on how to fix your timing tag to your shoelace:
You can tie your tag into your shoelaces as securely as you like, either by just untying your laces normally, threading the tag on and then tying them back up again. Or, if you are nervous about your laces coming undone, you can take the laces out of the top set of eyelets, thread the tag onto them and then redo the laces through the tags to make absolutely certain your tag doesn't come off.
Using either method, REMEMBER TO ONLY THREAD YOUR LACES THROUGH THE TOP TWO HOLES ON THE TAG
