(Corpus Christi, Texas) “Surf’s up” this June! Champion surfers and nationally known surf artists will add to the festivities and coastal vibe during the 5th Annual Water Street Music, Art & Surf Fest. Painter John Olvey, painter Wade Koniakowsky, and photographer/painter Jon Steele will conduct painting demonstrations and create surf inspired works of art, live on site, during the Water Street event.

On Saturday and Sunday of the event, the three artist friends and local Corpus Christians will create together - conducting live paint-offs, painting on surfboards and canvas in a fun, open work space accompanied by live music. One custom painted surfboard created during the event will be given away for free via a drawing for those stopping by and viewing the “live” paint off. A second surfboard created at the event will be available for $5 raffle tickets.

Oil painter Wade Koniakowsky is one of the top surf -inspired-artists on the West Coast. According to Surfer Magazine “Wade's oil paintings are inspired by dreamlike point breaks in Polynesian paradise ... trees blow gently in an offshore breeze as reefs fire in the distance and in the foreground." Koniakowsky has created art for surf contests including both the men's and women's World Longboarding Championship and for sponsors such as Roxy Women's apparel. He is a top seller in two of the largest gallery chains in the Hawaiian Islands. Prior to becoming a painter, Wade spent years as a Creative Director in advertising, creating campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and winning over 300 creative awards.

Painter John Olvey combines saltwater, acrylic and soul to create an artistic impression of the surfer lifestyle. His art is a combination of acrylic, saltwater, and soul, and he artfully depicts the sand, waves, and surf motion as viewed form a lone surfer’s perspective. Olvey is a lifelong resident of the Texas Gulf Coast and has surfed and created art since childhood. He is committed to artistic expression of the surf lifestyle to canvas, paper, surfboards, and wood. As a renowned surfer, Olvey has proven his artistic skills in the water medium at numerous state and national competitions for forty years.

Jon Steele is one of the top surf photographers and photo editor of the only California surf magazine on the West Coast. According to Surfer's Journal Magazine, he was noted at one of the hottest up and coming photographers. Steele has created art for and photos for corporate offices, as well as beach salvage fundraisers such as the Watermans ball and more. Steele’s clientele sprawl throughout the globe with works including Japan Surfing Life, Surfer's Path, and more. Prior to becoming a painter/photographer, Steele spend his time as an avid surfer and skater.
