Havassy unveils line of eco-friendly surf-art sandals
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 May, 2008 : - - Newport Beach -- Following-up on the success of his Reef Brazil sandals debut, California artist and surfer Robb Havassy this week received production of his signature 'Havassy' line of eco-friendly sandals.
The footwear adds to an existing base of popular apparel, surfboards, skateboards and fine art products, which includes more than 2,000 paintings, drawings and photographs. Havassy's internationally successfull "Walking Art" line of sandals with Reef inspired him to develop his own conservation-minded line of sandals. "I wanted to take a great idea and make it even better," says Havassy.
"The concept and design of my footwear is creatively similar to the sandals I did with Reef, updated with eco-friendly bio-foam, with improvement in the design."
Havassy reports his list of collaborations with brands in the surf-skate community include work with Op, Sector Nine, O'neill, Hurley, Robert August Surfboards, Surftech, Globe, Freestyle Watches, Howe Jeans and Reef Brazil.
Over the past decade, Havassy has helped raise more than $100,000 in philanthropic contributions with his continuing support of and collaboration with the Surfrider Foundation, Heal the Bay, Surf Aid International, in addition to dozens of other international non-profit organizations dedicated to social and environmental causes.
With the official release of Havassy sandals slated for June 1, the limted edition flip-flops will be exclusively available through Havassy's Web site, after which they will be released to "art savvy" surf stores and boutiques worldwide.
The initial sandal line includes four versions of art, including "Pipe", "Hang 10", "Glass Off" and "Sunset Surfers," and comes in both men's and women's sizes.
