Registration opened today for young people keen to get in involved The City of Greater Geelong’s sixth annual Get on Board Beach Day.
Taking place at Ocean Grove Main Beach on March 15, Get on Board is a free day for young people to surf, skate, create art and cheer on their mates.
The surf events, including the learn to surf sessions and a fun tag-team surf event, require registration on www.youthcan.vic.gov.au or by phoning 5272 4699.
Youth portfolio holder Cr Jan Farrell encouraged young people not to miss out and register as soon as possible before registrations close on March 11.
“Young people of all abilities can register and I particularly encourage those who have never surfed before to come along and pick up a fun new skill,” she said.
“Those participating in the surf events will be in the running to win some great prizes, including an iPod.”
“But if you’re not so interested in surfing, there will be plenty else to do including skating and beach art, plus lots of other spot prizes and giveaways.”
“Skate ramps will be set up in the carpark for those who prefer to stay dry, and the Youthcan Van will have Beach Art for those with a more creative flare.”
“Get on Board Day is a great day for young people who want to get out and enjoy a fun day with friends – and the best part is that it’s all free,” Cr Farrell said.
