Surf Boarders96

I picked up a BT longboard from you last summer, and it's been a great addition to my surf experiences (it's been all over California with me, and even made it to El Salvador with me last fall). Last weekend, as I was getting changed after my session at the Huntington Beach Pier, I had placed my board on the ground behind my van in the parking lot. Although there were many available parking spots, some guy decided he wanted to park right next to me, and drove right over the nose of my board (in a 3/4 ton Dodge pickup no less).

FCD team rider Lakey Peterson recently took home the belt for the girls 16 and under division at Oceanside.

"Today I competed in the end of the year WSA Prime Championships in Oceanside. WSA Prime is an invitation only event that brings together the best junior surfers from around the US that have been competing for this championship all year long. It is also the launching point to become a member of Team USA that travels to the ISA world games.

The contest was very cool; it was the first time that juniors have ever surfed in man-on-man heat in this big of a venue. Man-on-man is unique in that it really allows surfers to show their talent without all the jocking that goes on in a six man heat. I won the girls 16 and under, beating out Lani Dougherty of Hawaii who is currently ranked #10 in the world. Next up I surfed against my nemesis, #2 in the world and last years National Champ, Courtney Conlogue. She beat me by .05 points in a nail biter, buzzer beater heat. She scored a 8.32 to beat out my 8.15.

All in all it was a great contests and super practice for the NSSA Championships coming up this month at Lowers Trestles"
