With the Beijing Olympic games the center of attention, sport has become an important part of life in China. But Chinese sports aren't limited to traditional pursuits like table tennis, badminton, and track and field. Some newer arrivals are becoming increasingly popular.

With more money in their pockets, Chinese people are now enjoying a diverse array of recreational sports. Some games test your skill, while others test your courage. Surfing is pretty new to China, but it's attracting more and more people to the water. Among them, are skilled wave riders. as well as beginners. For many surfing enthusiasts, the breaking waves help them to become more focused.

A surfing lenthusiast said, "It's a very good experience in surfing, like playing guitar, you are being watched in what your are doing. I never get tired of being in the sea. The feeling is fantastic" But for others, surfing is a lifestyle. "The most important thing is connecting with nature."
