Two Maui Film Festival surf movies will benefit the Surfrider Foundation Maui Chapter in its ongoing effort to maintain the quality of near-shore waters, keep beach access open and save ocean recreation sites for the enjoyment of all.
8 p.m., Thursday, June 12 – Celestial Cinema in Wailea
Water Man takes viewers on an intimate boat trip with the most influential surfers of our time – Gerry Lopez, Laird Hamilton, Dave Kalama, Rob Machado, and the Malloy Brothers - as they venture into the heart of Indonesia and its hidden paradise of colossal barrels and perfect waves. Psst: Rumor has it special guests will include the Aikau family from Oahu.
8 p.m., Sunday, June 15 Celestial Cinema in Wailea
Down the Barrel – Witness Kelly Slater's pursuit of an unprecedented eighth World Championship Tour title, Kalani Robb's insight into the North Shore's miracles, Joel Parkinson's demonstration of Australia's obsession with surfing and Rob Machado's Zen approach to the sea from North Shore Oahu to Tahiti, Australia, California and France in this spectacularly photographed adventure.
