Surfside Beach
Surfside Beach
Known as "The Family Beach," Surfside Beach, South Carolina is two miles of pristine beach along the Grand Strand and is located just minutes away from Myrtle Beach. The area is also home to the Surfside Pier.
The area now known as Surfside Beach was once part of the 3,200 acre Ark Plantation owned by John M. Tillman. After Tillman’s death in 1865, the land was divided into separate parcels. Over the next several decades, the area went from being called Roach’s Beach to Floral Beach. The name Surfside Beach was adopted in 1952 and in the early 1960’s the area began to flourish as a tourist attraction & retirement area. Since the 1960’s, the area has continued to grow and is now a great family vacation destination.
