Panama, the "Canal Republic", is rated the number one retirement location by International Living Magazine. The current canal expansion is estimated to cost 8 billion dollars over it's 10 year construction, and provide the country with continually building revenues. Panama's stable democratic government offers exceptional incentives for investment, such as property tax exemptions for up to 20 years. The Pinkerton Global Intelligence Agency has recently awarded Panama it's highest rating for tourist safety. Panama borders both the Pacific, and Caribbean Oceans, and is well below the hurricane belt.

Non stop flight times from Miami or Atlanta to Panama city are only 2 hours 35 minutes. Numerous airlines service Panama, but the newest carrier to fly here is Spirit Air, often with extremely low rates. Panama city is a very rapidly growing cosmopolitan city with mega towers being constructed at an accelerated rate. The Trump Ocean Club is now under construction as a center piece on the city's waterfront. The unique building due for completion December of 2010 is nearly 100% pre-sold. New construction towers are underway seemingly everywhere. Major international corporations are relocating to the old U.S. owned Canal zone.

The city of Colon, location of the free trade zone, is to be avoided due to rampant crime.

One of the benefits of Panama is the Panamanian people themselves. The warmth of the reception speaks volumes for the Country. The language is Spanish, but English is becoming more prevalent.

December through April is the dry season on the Pacific coast. September and October, normally the wettest months on the Pacific side of Central America, are often dry in the Bocas del Toro region.
