Surf Videos 5

EDITORIAL OVERVIEW

Welcome to Surfline.com -- the most comprehensive surf-related website on the Internet. We're not talking about the kind of "surfing" done by computer geeks; we're talking about the kind done by real surfers -- those of us who do it in the ocean, on wind-borne waves, and who frequently suffer from ailments such as saltwater sinus drain, bone-clogged ear canals and dermatological sun damage of the highest order.

We were hesitant to use a superlative such as "most comprehensive" in that first sentence above, but we're confident it's true. Spend a few hours browsing around Surfline and we guarantee you won't even come close to getting to the end of every cul-de-sac on the site. We have compiled millions of words, images, sound bites and video clips. We have also spent a lot of time and energy trying to organize that content in a way that's at once utilitarian and stylish, intuitive and surprising, simple and complex. Our goal is simple: we want to pin you to your chair at the same time we inspire you to get out of it. And once you decide to get wet, we want to help you figure out where to go, when to go, how to get there and what to ride.

For the record, Surfline consists of the following sections:

1. CAMS & REPORTS. Surfline offers the world's most reliable surf cam and report network that gives you a precise reading on what the waves are doing at hundreds of surf spots around the globe. Each page features detailed tide charts, wind data, water temperatures and more -- whatever it takes to describe what the surf and conditions are like right now.

2. FORECASTS. Surfline's Premium Forecasts provide a summary of exactly what the surf will be doing up to five days in advance at every major surf region in the world. And, for those who like to do a bit of forecasting on their own -- or just get more details -- we have the world's finest computer-generated, automated surf forecasting tools. Our suite of storm and swell models can forecast surf right down the street, or it can predict waves at top spots around the globe -- breaks like Tavarua, Tahiti and Jeffrey's Bay.

3. SURF NEWS. If something happens in the world of surfing, we cover it...and we cover it first, and in a more visually engaging way than any other surf news outlet in the world.

4. TRAVEL. This section is for surfers embarking on -- or just dreaming about -- a surf trip. Surfline Travel includes maps of the entire United States, independent guides to most of the major surf resorts worldwide, and travel tales from professional journalists and amateur wanderers alike.

5. SURFLINE TV & VIDEO This widely popular section offers a full range of shows and clips from the top makers of surf video - everything from interviews to new faces to instruction to just pure, hard-core action.

6. PHOTOS. Browse and view thousands of photos from around the world, or upload and share your pics with the always-passionate Surfline photo community.

6. WOMEN. This unique channel highlights the new generation of women surfers who are changing our sport in the water and out, and driving female surfers to break gender barriers everywhere.

7. STORE. The Surfline commerce staff selects the best surf products on the market, and presents them for sale in a convenient, safe, online store.

CORPORATE OVERVIEW

Surfline is the leading provider of surf report, forecast and editorial content to consumers, businesses and government agencies worldwide. Headquartered in Huntington Beach, California, Surfline delivers timely, accurate and comprehensive data on a daily basis via wireless web and the Internet. The company's world-renowned website, Surfline.com, is visited by over 90,000 unique people per day and over 1,000,000 per month -- the largest and most loyal audience of surf and beach enthusiasts in the world. Since 1985, Surfline has merged premier surf report, forecast and editorial talent with industry-leading technology to produce "must-have" content of unparalleled quality aimed at active participants in the sports of surfing, windsurfing, bodysurfing, bodyboarding and kitesurfing.

The Surfline Management team includes pre-eminent surf forecaster Sean Collins, who serves as chief forecaster and president of Surfline. The self-taught Collins was the first person to forecast swells accurately from the southern hemisphere on a regular basis in the late '70s and early 80s. He pioneered and created the first ongoing surf forecast available to the surfing public via Surfline and 976-SURF in 1985. Over the past 20 years, he has developed a sophisticated, proprietary system of wave forecasting and is recognized as the clear leader in the field. Surfer Magazine named Sean one of the "25 Most Influential Surfers of the Century" in the summer of 1999.

In 2001, Surfline launched LOLA, a revolutionary, global computer model that creates sophisticated wind and swell data used to power all of Surfline forecasts. More than a year in the making, LOLA incorporates the most advanced meteorological software available, which has been combined with proprietary knowledge gained from over 30 years of worldwide surf forecasting experience. Since its launch, LOLA has delivered the most trustworthy wind, swell and surf information available anywhere.

In 2003, Surfline acquired Buoyweather, a popular website for boaters, sailors, fishermen and divers. What makes Buoyweather unique is its network of "Virtual Buoys" that provide focused marine data for every coastal and offshore area in the world. From each virtual buoy point, users are able to gauge current wind speeds and swell heights, as well as garner a seven-day marine forecast for that precise location.

Today, Surfline continues to break new ground with the introduction of the world's first HD surf cameras, as well as a suite of innovative wireless products, including mobile.surfline.com and the revolutionary "Surf Report" iPhone app. With its wireless offerings, Surfline is able to provide news, information and entertainment for waveriders on the go, around the world. With the introduction of its proprietary HD cams, Surfline has, yet again, set a new standard in the delivery of live, online ocean imagery.
