Surf's up, dude. Well, at least you will know if it is or isn't after reading Hows the Surf. This site provides accurate and detailed surf forecasts for the coasts of Australia, Indonesia, Japan and California. Hows the Surf uses Google maps to plot individual surf points and also provides data on current largest swells, strongest winds and longest surf periods. Forecasts are updated every 6 hours. All you have to do is find your favorite surf spot, click the red marker, and up comes the forecast information, which is predicted in 3 hour increments (and then updated every 6 hours). For a surfer, this is information paradise.

Why it might be a killer
Unfortunately, surfers are often still considered slacker, stoner types without much intellect or ambition. But how many people do you know that can read a map of tradewinds, swells, currents and riptides and then assess how good the waves are going to be? Not many, I would guess, and this site proves that true, dedicated surfing takes skill and smarts.
Some questions
Why would someone use this site as opposed to their local surfing site? I know that San Diego, for example, has a multitude of local surf sites with all this data and more, such as water temperature, lifeguard flags, live cams, etc. Does this site hope to turn a profit and how? How is it marketing this site?
