Roxy Surf 95
Tameka Vasquez is a sophomore at Baruch College in New York City, where she is majoring in corporate communications/journalism, with minors in sociology and marketing. She's an impassioned individual who likes to make statements. At the same time, she's simply a laid-back and free-spirited girl. She realized in high school that fashion is the perfect way to demonstrate all of that. She learned that fashion isn't necessarily about what you wear, but about how you wear it. As the legendary Coco Chanel phrased it, "Fashion fades, but style remains the same." Tameka believes that New York City embraces individuality, and so the most interesting fashion shows are found at any point on the downtown streets of New York City. She loves living and going to school here, appreciating that it allows her to meet people from all walks of life, experience four distinct seasons every year, and encounter many forms of street art. Her favorite designers include Badgley Mischka, Zac Posen, and Luella, among many others. Besides fashion, Tameka's loves include poetry, bands, short films, black history, ethnic foods, photography, and summertime. She reads any magazine she can get her hands on and has respect for the hundreds of hands it takes to put them together.
