6:00 am... Waves this morning are holding in the 1 to 1.5 foot range... Some larger sets but really didn't see much when I went down there just now. However, there are still waves and looks like it could stay glassy for a bit... Winds out of the SW, turning SE later on...
On the local buoy, we have an early reading of 2.6 feet at 8 seconds...
The marine forecast calls for SW winds, then eventually becoming SE this afternoon.
I'll back with photos soon...
6:34 am... The waves this early morning look very similar to yesterday early morning, so we could see that fun little increase from 9 to 12 that we had yesterday... Have to wait and see! Still glassy thought, didn't see much going on... But when sets came through, looks like there could be a couple this morning...
7:55 am... Kristina's dawn patrol report of slightly smaller surf than yesterday is right on. It's looking way way inconsistent on first... err second look (my first look as I got to sleep in after Steely Dan). It's real super glassy and real super clean though...
I just snapped a few more photos and will post them up shortly...
8:30 am... Some new early morning photos are up behind Kristina's dawn patrol photos in box #1. The photos make it look better than it is. It's real inconsistent and backing off on so many occasions. But the good news is it's so clean and glassy plus every once in a while a really good set wave will push through. I captured one, and it's marked as the "5 shot sequence" near the end of the slide show. The surfer got snuffed trying to tuck in...
11 am... 39 new photos are up and posted in box #2 (I love my new Iphoto!) and you can see the waves are smaller than yesterday. The wind has turned light onshore so a lite surface chop is developing. As the tide backs out the swell seems to be dropping. but there is still swell on the buoy offshore, so it shouldn't go flat today. We just need to hope the wind stays fairly light so the form won't get messed up...
12 noon... The wind still hasn't picked up too much, but the surf looks a little less consistent. Hopefully the incoming tide will help and we'll get a push throughout tthe afternoon. We'll see...
1:00 pm.. The wind has picked up a little so it's a little bit choppier. Not near as clean as yesterday at this time...
Ryan 'Rip' Ripko is going to come in later this afternoon with a mid afternoon surf report...
3:45 pm.... Just ripped over to the pier and got some mid afternoon surf photos for you, they are up and posted in Box #2 for you to check out. Looking at the photos you can see the surf is pretty dismal and mushy around the higher tide, but it is not flat and if you can find the right sandbar and the right equipment the water is up to 84! Get on it before it totally goes away....
6:15 pm.. Evening note: Oh my the surf has dropped. The local buoy has decreased readings and along the beach the swell is smaller. Downgrade the text report from earlier and go with this note.
The wind is fairly light onshore but there is enough wind to make the surface conditions semi-choppy, with only knee to thigh high waves.
For a while there, the increased swells were hitting on the weekend, seemingly for the weekend warriors. But this most recent swell hit yesterday and now seems to be dropping for the weekend warriors this time. Ya can't win all the time.
But it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings... We'll see if there is still some swell early tomorrow for the ESA Surfing Contest, and the weekend warriors. Over and out...
