Arugam Bay Surfing Holiday

Arugam Bay is a tiny fishing village located 320 km from Colombo and 3 km from the small fishing village of Pottuvil. The bay lies between two headlands and is excellent for surfing.

‘The Point’ in Arugam Bay is regarded as a top world surf destination. It is a well lined up right hand point break, generating a clean peeling glassy wave that barrels a surfer a 400m ride right through to the inside. Additionally there are other five high quality breaks within a radius of 30 minutes.

For many years now, Arugam Bay has lured and entrapped surfers from all over the world. The athmosphere in the bay is the best you’ll ever find. Peace, tranquility, relaxation and general easy going attitude are just a few things you can say about Arugam Bay. The word is out there is once you come here you will forever return.

Regardless of your skill, there is a wave for everyone. We also give you a chance to learn from the best instructors in the bay. They will start you up on the board or help you progress if you know your way already. Accommodation consists of wooden cabanas with tree house like balconies and surrounded by a profusion of white and pink bogan villia. The food is going to take your senses by surprise and amaze you with its diversity, rich flavours and healthy ingredients.

The nights are usually spent in the confortably designed lounge areas over drinks and talks of the waves you’ve managed to ride.

Surfing season between November & April

Hikkaduwa has become one of Sri Lanka’s international holiday destinations. It’s ideal for the holiday seeker who favour the beach party atmosphere with beach restaurants and bars, shops and nightclubs all along the coastline.

Beautiful white sandy beaches, colorful coral reefs and excellent surf are attracting people from all over the world for great surfing and diving. Seafood is available in abundance and one of the best Italian restaurants in Sri Lanka is located here.

Hikkaduwa is a boarder’s paradise. Its an electrifying resort that is never quite asleep. Its got several surfing spots, nearby wakeboarding on a lake and even a small half pipe. They are working on the snow, but dont bring your snowboard just yet :)

The resort is teeming with nice places to stay or eat and it prides itself with being the best party destination in the country. From luxurios hotels to wooden cabanas, from exotic sri lankan dishes to internation cuisine, Hikkaduwa has them all.

Part of your tour will take you to a few other excellent surfing points in the nearby west coast resorts of Unawatuna, Weligama, Mirissa, etc. You can spend the night in one of them or come back to Hikkaduwa.
Transport

To and from Arugam Bay

It will take around 8 hours to cross Sri Lanka from West to East but you’ll have a chance to see the how beautiful this island really is. Misty moountains, booming waterfalls, tea plantations and paddy fields are just some of the things you’ll see. We’ll stop along the way for refreshments and food. Round trip costs EURO50/person* including tea, soft drinks, snacks.

To and from Hikkaduwa

The trip to Hikkaduwa will take 4 hours along the beautiful western coast. Stops for refreshments and food will also be made. Round trip costs EURO30/person* including tea, soft drinks, snacks.
Travels withing the resort, to and from different surfing points are also included.
Rates

We have tailored our tours to give you the flexibility you need. Both East coast and West coast tours are 7 days long with the possibility to extend your stay to 10 days or more, should you like to. On arrival each person is asked to pay our local guides 10USD for each day of stay. We will welcome you at the airport and take you to your destination by private coaches that are both confortable and safe.

The rates are on a double room sharing basis. The 7 days tour includes 6 nights, 6 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners. The 10 days tour includes 9 nights, 9 breakfasts, 6 lunches and 6 dinners. Meals include a main dish and desert and are exclusive of drinks and lobster dishes which can be ordered separately.
