surf shops 40

Ventura, CA – June 1, 2006. Patagonia, Inc., the outdoor apparel company, is proud to announce the opening of their first Surf Store in Cardiff-By-The-Sea, CA. The new store is situated at 2185 San Elijo Avenue, on the corner of San Elijo and Chesterfield.

The unique shop will carry Patagonia’s new line of surf-inspired clothing for men, women’s apparel by Water Girl and over 100 epoxy surfboards by Fletcher Chouinard Designs. Patagonia’s new collection of wetsuits and boardbags will also be available, as will paddleboards by Joe Bark, diving gear, and high-quality surf equipment from a variety of companies.

“Our ultimate goal with this shop is to inspire people to get wet,” noted Chris Malloy. “You won’t find too many surf shops that carry paddle boards, diving guns and hand boards, along with boardshorts made from recycled materials and shirts made from organic cotton.”

In 2004, professional surfers Chris, Keith, and Dan Malloy and Gerry Lopez were hired by Patagonia to develop a new line of surf apparel and gear. After years of research and development, the company is now ready to show off their first season of surf wear.

Patagonia will celebrate the opening of its Cardiff-location retail store on June 3rd, 2006. The entire Cardiff community is invited to join the Open House, which include music, food and good times for all. Festivities begin at 6:00pm.

“Cardiff is a community that shares our passion for the ocean and the environment,” noted local surfer Devon Howard, Patagonia’s store manager. “We hope that the community will come to know us not only as a great spot to get gear for any ocean-related activity, but also a local gathering place and environmental resource.”

Known for its deep commitment to the environment, Patagonia is encouraging customers to let employees know how the store can become involved in local environmental issues.
