Desiree Male and Michael ChapmanJust weeks after the launch of its express freight service from Darwin, Northline's new Broome manager Michael Chapman has signed up the national freight company as a major sponsor of the Broome Surf Lifesaving Club.
Northline, which launched the Broome-Darwin express freight service in April, is a Gold Sponsor, providing freight services worth up to $2000 for the Broome Surf Lifesaving Club.
Michael, who recently moved from Perth to Broome with his partner Desiree Male, said the sponsorship demonstrated Northline's commitment to the North West. "The Surf Lifesaving Club plays a vital role in the Broome community," he said.
"When I heard that it needed a freight sponsor, I put the case to Northline's executives and they supported it wholeheartedly. We look forward to assisting the club to transport vital lifesaving equipment for its Cable Beach operations and also helping club members to ship their equipment to take part in competitions. Our national freight network fits in perfectly with their requirements."
Broome Surf Lifesaving Club President John McCourt said the club was grateful for Northline's support. "We appreciate this recognition of the value delivered by our club and we look forward to building a long-term partnership with Northline," he said.
Northline is an Australian freight company that specialises in servicing remote locations throughout the country. The privately-owned business, which employs more than 350 people, provides a combination of express freight, general freight, warehousing and mine site services throughout Australia.
In April, Northline launched the first express freight service between Darwin and Broome, opening up the booming Kimberley region to fast freight deliveries from the NT. The two-day transit is faster than deliveries from Perth, especially when freight arrives from overseas through the Port of Darwin.
As Northline's Projects Coordinator - North West, Michael is charged with establishing and managing Northline's relationships with local businesses. His previous positions include a sales role with mining equipment manufacturer MTI Group and also driving a truck for a removalist company, a part-time job that helped him through university.
Michael and Desiree, a member of Broome's well-known Male family, made the decision to establish their careers and home in Broome after Michael completed his Bachelor of Business degree, with a double major in Marketing and Human Resources, from Edith Cowan University. Desiree, a certified practising accountant, has set up her own accounting and financial planning firm in Broome.
"Broome is a great town and we see a terrific future here, both on a professional and a personal lifestyle level," said Michael.
"Northline has made a major commitment to Broome by establishing its express freight service from Darwin. Historically, the town had limited freight options, so Northline provides a new alternative with a national freight network that can link Broome to anywhere in Australia. It's a very exciting opportunity."
Northline's local office is located at 9 Archer Street, Broome. You can contact Michael Chapman by telephone (0439) 680 727 or email michael.chapman@northline.com.au This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
