Surf Wave 68

The first surfing title for GameCube, TransWorld SURF features a number of enhancements over 2001's Xbox version of the game. GameCube owners will be able to shoot the curl in the frigid waters of Antarctica, unlock 13 offbeat characters like Neptune Man, Sea Monster, and the Super Kook, as well as customize each surfer's apparel from the all-new Pro Surf Shop. Modes of play are otherwise identical to the Xbox release. Solo players can embark on the TransWorld SURF World Tour while up to four friends can compete in three multiplayer events.

TransWorld SURF offers randomly generated waves based on actual beaches from around the world. A total of 13 professional male and female surfers are included, each possessing three signature moves. While the object differs depending on the mode selected, play generally involves performing as many tricks as possible throughout a three-minute run. Advanced tricks are categorized in four areas: floaters, flips, air grabs, and snap turns. Moves can also be linked together to form combos, and each successful stunt adds to the Trick Meter positioned in the corner of the screen.

Once the Trick Meter is filled, players can perform once of their chosen surfer's special tricks for big points. In addition to performing moves and staying afloat, players must also respect indigenous life as well as other surfers on the water. This is reflected in the Karma Meter, which gauges how others treat players. Bad karma will make surfers and sea life go out of their way to disrupt a player's run, while good karma earns players respect and solitude on the waves. The main mode of play, the World Tour, has players entering photo shoot challenges as well as competitions.

Challenges involve completing a certain number of goals, which are awarded goal points used to unlock additional courses. Competitions involve two groups of four in a series of three heats until only one remains. Other single-player modes include Single Session, which has players trying to beat high scores, and Free Surf, which removes the time limit and point keeping. Multiplayer games include Competition, where each player tries to earn the most points within a time limit; Free Surf, which is for fun and practice; and King of the Wave, which involves outlasting the competition by maxing out the Trick Meter and then knocking rivals off the wave.
